The Liberal’s pressure to alter one line in our national anthem is misplaced.  It is this line,…God keep our land glorious and free!……that should give us pause.

Can even almighty God KEEP our Canada GLORIOUS, and free, when every law given by Him is under attack? And the charge against His holy and perfect will,…….. has our elected Prime Minister at the forefront.

Maybe it’s too esoteric to ask if even our all-powerful Creator and God can keep something glorious, if it is not presently in any glorious state.

It’s interesting to read the very different rendering of O Canada  in the French version.  We’d improve the lot of all Canadians radically, if we took those words to heart.

Official English Official French Translation of French:
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Ô Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l’épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
O Canada!
Land of our forefathers,
Thy brow is wreathed with glorious garlands of flowers.
As is thy arm ready to wield the sword,
So also is it ready to carry the cross.
Thy history is an epic
Of the most brilliant exploits.
Thy valour steeped in faith
Will protect our homes and our rights.
Will protect our homes and our rights.
