On Saturday I was helping out at a booth at the Agrifair when I noticed that at least half of the people in the building had walking sticks.  At last my curiosity got the best of me and I went over to ask someone about their stick.  They said there was a booth at the entrance where people were giving these away, so I went over to find Christians from a variety of churches were handing out long and short walking sticks with little bracelets threaded through a hole in the wood.  They freely handed out these fun, (and useful) sticks and politely asked people if they would like to hear the story attached to the leather bracelet.

And most of the recipients cheerfully listened to the brief recap of the salvation Jesus Christ offers to a lost and needy world.

Here is the message of salvation simply presented with the use of those coloured beads on a leather band:

GOLD, reminds us of the glories of heaven (Revelation 21, God’s home, a perfect place).

BLACK, the dark colour reminds us of our sin (Romans 3 and Romans 6) that separates us from God and keeps us out of heaven.

RED, reminds us of the blood of Christ (Romans 5 and 1 Peter 3) which was shed to pay the penalty for our sin.

WHITE, represents the purity and forgiveness that come when we confess our sin (1 John 1)

GREEN, represents the spiritual growth that takes place in our life once we have accepted God’s gift of salvation.
